Band Saw

Description

A band saw is a power saw with a long, sharp blade consisting of a continuous band of toothed metal stretched between two or more wheels to cut material.

Why

You may wish to use a band saw when:

• You want to make quick, cuts
• You need a cut that has rounded corners

You don’t want to use a band saw when:

• You need precisely straight cut

Safety

Equipment

In addition to standard woodshop safety equipment, you will want to have:

• Safety glasses
• Hearing protection

Trainings

Make sure you have completed the proper online safety training and have attended a saws training from the Makerspace staff or crew.

Operation

Make sure you’re fully trained and are wearing proper protective equipment at all times before using the tool.
